All 20 Premier League clubs' record signings

From Manchester City to Ipswich Town, here’s a look at each Premier League club’s most expensive signing.

    ByBrogan Clasper Sep 4, 2024 Arsenal: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain £35m to Liverpool, 2017

Given the amount of cash Arsenal have splashed in more recent years, it is perhaps a surprise that their record sale dates as far back as this.

However, the Gunners have been perennially poor sellers, particularly under Arsene Wenger, though he received a pretty cool £35m when Liverpool came calling for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2017, just months after the midfielder helped Arsenal to the FA Cup.

Considering Oxlade-Chamberlain only shone in brief glimpses at Anfield, Arsenal can put this down as a fine piece of business.

Aston Villa: Jack Grealish £100m to Man City, 2021

After guiding Aston Villa to promotion and then Premier League survival, it had seemed just a matter of time before Jack Grealish would take the next step in his career.

To the Villans’ credit, they kept hold of the Englishman’s services for a further year, but could not say no to champions Manchester City, who came forward with a British-record nine-figure bid in the summer of 2021.

Grealish was part of City’s treble-winning side in 2022/23, while Villa have gone from strength to strength in his absence, and took part in the Champions League alongside Man City in 2024/25. Grealish’s departure may have been bittersweet, but things have worked out pretty well for the Midlands outfit.

Bournemouth: Dominic Solanke £65m to Tottenham, 2024

Bournemouth broke their own transfer record in 2024, but not before receiving the largest sum in the club’s history for one of their players.

Dominic Solanke’s move to Tottenham Hotspur cost the north Londoners £65m – eclipsing the £40m they received from Manchester City for Nathan Ake in 2020.

The Cherries responded to Solanke’s departure by signing Evanilson for just over £40m from FC Porto.

Brentford: Bryan Mbeumo £71m to Manchester United, 2025

Brentford have been pillaged in recent years with Ivan Toney heading to Saudi, Yoane Wissa making his move to Newcastle and Bryan Mbeumo – the biggest of the lot – heading to Manchester United in a colossal £71m deal in the summer of 2025.

Mbeumo was one of the Premier League’s standout players in 2024/25, scoring 20 top-flight goals. That tally of goals richly deserved a move and he duly got one.

Brighton: Moises Caicedo £115m to Chelsea, 2023

Moises Caicedo was subject to interest from Chelsea and Liverpool in the summer of 2023, with the Ecuadorian selecting the Blues as his next destination after Brighton & Hove Albion accepted mammoth bids from both clubs.

Despite approving a £111m transfer to the Reds, Chelsea decided to go one further by structuring a deal that could yet rise to £115m.

It was reported that £15m of that total is in appearance-related add-ons.

Todd Boehly's worst transfers at Chelsea… so far

There are plenty to choose from, but who has been Boehly’s biggest mistake at Stamford Bridge?

2 ByStephan Georgiou Aug 23, 2024 Burnley: James Trafford £27m to Manchester City, 2025

James Trafford enjoyed a remarkable campaign with the Clarets during their promotion-winning season in 2024/25.

The goalkeeper kept a whopping 29 clean sheets. Quickly becoming one of the best English stoppers around, Man City paid a £27m fee to bring him back to the club where he grew up.

Sadly for Trafford, he was quickly displaced when the Citizens brought in Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Chelsea: Eden Hazard £89m to Real Madrid, 2019

Chelsea have had a history of receiving handsome transfer sums for players in recent years, and while Eden Hazard is undoubtedly one of their better stars within the last decade or so, the £89m they received upfront from Real Madrid turned out to be a terrific steal.

The deal to send the Belgian to the Santiago Bernabeu – which came off the back of Hazard guiding Chelsea to Europa League glory – could have reached over £150m. However, given the Blues legend only featured 76 times in an injury-ridden four-year spell in Madrid before retiring, we highly doubt many of the add-ons were ever activated.

Still, it is comfortably the highest fee Chelsea have received – it is most closely rivalled by Kai Havertz’s move to Arsenal for £65m.

Ranking Eden Hazard's 10 best career performances & moments

The former Chelsea and Belgium star enjoyed a fabulous career before retiring at the age of 32.

ByFreddie Taylor Oct 13, 2023 Crystal Palace: Aaron Wan-Bissaka £50m to Man Utd, 2019

Manchester United’s spending spree in 2019 features multiple times in this list as they parted with nearly £150m that summer alone. A decent chunk of that went on bringing in Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50m.

The six years that have followed have not been too rosy for the club nor the player, with the Red Devils making a significant loss on the full-back when selling him to West Ham United ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Eagles have often been resolute when it comes to high-profile interest in their players, and recently had their resolve tested once more in 2024 as Newcastle threatened to eclipse the sum received for Wan-Bissaka while seeking to add Marc Guehi to their squad.

Everton: Romelu Lukaku £90m to Man Utd, 2017

It has all been downhill for Everton since selling Romelu Lukaku in 2017, when he linked up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

However, Everton did manage to secure a princely sum for the striker, with United paying the Toffees an initial £75m in a deal that included a further £15m in add-ons.

It is unclear how much of these were activated, but Everton have struggled on and off the pitch since, finishing in the top half just once since the turn of the decade and remaining out of Europe since the year of the Belgian’s departure – all while being under scrutiny for their finances amid a number of transfer flops.

    Fulham: Aleksandar Mitrovic £50m to Al-Hilal, 2023

Fulham were one of the many victims of the Saudi Pro League’s raid on European-based footballers. Their riches were too much for Aleksandar Mitrovic to ignore in the summer of 2023 – and they nearly took manager Marco Silva along with them.

However, Fulham have remained a solid top-flight club after comfortably surviving in their first season back with Mitrovic in 2022/23.

They have invested the reported £50m fee paid by Saudi champions Al-Hilal for the Serbian’s services wisely, with Rodrigo Muniz among those to shine at Craven Cottage.

Arsenal in pole position to sign Real Madrid star as Ayto prepares £50m bid

Arsenal are now believed to be the main contenders to sign a Real Madrid forward, with interim sporting director Jason Ayto and the Gunners recruitment team reportedly readying an offer for his services ahead of this summer.

Arsenal face striker conundrum before West Ham United

Yet again, manager Mikel Arteta has a real striker conundrum on his hands, as he plots how best to set up his Premier League title-chasing team in a crucial London derby.

Kai Havertz will miss the rest of the season after tearing his hamstring on a training trip to Dubai, while fellow striker Gabriel Jesus is also sidelined for months following his ruptured ACL – which was sustained during Arsenal’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Man United in the FA Cup third-round.

This leaves Arteta with just Raheem Sterling as his only senior striking option, and even when given the chance to shine, he hasn’t exactly fired on all cylinders since joining Arsenal on loan from Chelsea last summer.

Sterling’s lack of impact against Leicester City last weekend forced Arteta to get very creative, with the Spaniard electing to replace Chelsea’s outcast by bringing on midfielder Mikel Merino as a makeshift centre-forward.

In dramatic fashion, the 28-year-old delivered a brace in the final 10 minutes to gift Arsenal a crucial three points in a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium, but it is currently unclear whether Arteta will utilise Merino as a striker against West Ham on Saturday.

The Gunners’ current striking dilemma highlights why Arsenal really should’ve brought in a world-class number nine in January, while they had the chance.

Arsenal made a public bid for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, but according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, their low-ball £40 million proposal fell short of NSWE’s valuation for the England international.

The list of emergency free agents available to Arsenal is barren to say the least, with the biggest name among them, Diego Costa, most recently enduring a lacklustre stint at Wolves in 2022.

Arsenal preparing £50 million bid to sign Endrick from Real Madrid

Now, Ayto and the recruitment chiefs at London Colney are looking ahead to the summer window, as they seek to ensure Arteta won’t be left so short in the attacking third ahead of another potential Premier League title challenge next season.

The usual suspects, as well as more left-field targets, are linked with moves to Arsenal on a weekly basis – but a report has since emerged that Real Madrid starlet Endrick is now on their agenda.

As per a Spanish media source, Arsenal are believed to be very keen on Endrick, and they’re apparently the top candidates to secure his signature later this year. The Brazil international has found it difficult to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s side on a regular basis, with Arteta said to be offering a way out.

It is also claimed that Ayto and co are preparing a £50 million offer for the 18-year-old, and it will be intriguing to see if they do move forward considering his reputation as one of the most promising young Brazilians in world football.

Find their own Virgil van Dijk, clear out the dead wood and eight lessons Chelsea can learn from Liverpool to force themselves back into the Premier League title picture

The Blues host Arne Slot's unexpected champions on Sunday and will be desperate to close the gap to the Reds, or even emulate them, next season

You couldn't begrudge Chelsea's players feeling a tinge of jealousy when they line up against Liverpool on Sunday. The Blues will give the newly-crowned Premier League champions a guard of honour at Stamford Bridge, and they will be wondering what could have been.

It feels like a lifetime ago now that Enzo Maresca's men were considered Liverpool's nearest title rivals, but the west Londoners have gone from two to points adrift since early December as their challenge disintegrated.

Chelsea have fallen so far away that their focus is now on clinging onto a Champions League place in a testing run-in, but the clash against the league winners will also be a litmus test and offers the chance to examine how the Blues can close the gap to Arne Slot's side, or perhaps even emulate them, next season.

    Getty/GOALFind their Van Dijk

Easier said than done, of course, but Chelsea have sorely lacked a defensive leader this season following Thiago Silva's exit. Wesley Fofana's injuries have resulted in a churn at centre-back, with Maresca rotating between Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile alongside Levi Colwill.

Summer free signing Adarabioyo is now their most senior figure at the back at 27, but if we're being brutally honest he doesn't exactly boast the glittering CV to give any serious weight to his voice in the dressing room.

Finding a player with Virgil van Dijk's quality when the transfer window opens will of course be nigh on impossible, but Chelsea's aim should be finding a player who can that defensive lynchpin in the future. The reported pursuit of Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen is a good start – a player who has demonstrated elite potential in the Premier League this season.

    AdvertisementGetty Images SportSign a goal-scorer

Liverpool have demonstrated exactly how you can survive and even thrive without a prolific striker in recent years and especially this season; their main No.9s Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have just 11 league goals between them, although the Reds are a clear anomaly with the indomitable Mohamed Salah in their ranks.

Just about everyone knows Chelsea need a reliable and consistent goal-scorer as Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer struggle to carry the burden, and the Blues have been strongly linked with Ipswich Town centre-forward Liam Delap, as well as Bundesliga hitmen Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike.

While a prolific striker is the obvious answer, Salah is an example of why it's worth looking outside the box – both figuratively and literally; could the incoming Estevao be the answer? Or is there someone on the market like Real Madrid's Rodrygo who could become the man to plunder goals from other attacking areas? It's a decision Chelsea must finally get right.

    Getty/GOALMidfield balance

Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have been two of Chelsea's most consistent performers this season, but their good work has been somewhat undermined by the lack of a third centre-midfielder to offer balance and free them to play to their strengths.

Romeo Lavia has looked the part when fit, acting as more of a box-to-box option who progresses play with his passing and ability to beat the press, enabling Fernandez to play further up the pitch and Caicedo to invert from right-back and focus on being a pure midfield destroyer. However, there are murmurs that the club could cut its losses on the injury-plagued Belgian.

Everyone expected Liverpool to spend big on a new No.6 last season but instead Slot shrewdly looked inward (although their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi did collapse), and Ryan Gravenberch has unexpectedly shone at the base of their midfield behind Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in a three-man set-up that has a bit of everything, with the Dutchman the perfect foil to the attack-minded former and creative latter.

Chelsea have tended to look far more fluid with Lavia in the team despite the fact he has only managed 12 league appearances all season, with their best spell coming when he was available between late September and early December as Maresca's men soared to second, before their form notably took a nosedive following his latest hamstring injury.

Still just 21, Lavia can be a long-term solution, but the challenge will be keeping him fit and on the pitch.

    Getty Images SportTrim the fat

Liverpool's data-driven recruitment approach under renowned chief executive Michael Edwards – which is the envy of many clubs including Chelsea, who want to follow suit – has left them with a streamlined, well-balanced squad and very little deadwood, enabling Slot to use a trusted core of players.

By contrast, Chelsea's bewildering recent transfer strategy, or lack thereof, has left them with a bloated, unbalanced and disjointed group of players, despite – or perhaps as a result of – the huge clear-out they had in the summer of 2023.

While the Reds have one or two players who are either surplus to requirements or might be unhappy with their lack of minutes, the Blues have multiple individuals who serve no purpose. They could feasibly sell as many as 15 first-team players in the summer, including costly recent signings Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

If Chelsea want to close the gap to Liverpool or even emulate them, they must trim the fat and instead target players that will provide functional depth, like Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones and Conor Bradley do at Anfield. The early signing of highly-rated midfielder Dario Essugo from Sporting CP suggests the penny might have dropped.

Big money has been spent on chasing the dream, but the financial playing field will level out considerably in the second tier of English football. Reinforcements will be required in order to avoid slipping into reverse, with everyone at SToK Racecourse aware of that fact.

    WHAT ANDY MORRELL SAID

Former player and manager Andy Morrell has told that Wrexham need “three to five signings” in the summer window, but added on having the core of a competitive squad in place: “They are Championship-ready players who can grow and develop. Ryan Longman, Max Cleworth, Lewis Brunt – and then added on that you have a sprinkling of players like Matty James and James McClean. Players who know what it takes – and also how to deal with the pressure and the spotlight that comes to playing for Wrexham these days.”

Reynolds and McElhenney have smashed recruitment records on a regular basis during their tenure, and more of the same is expected in 2025. Morrell added: “They won't rush it, they will give players who won promotion a chance and use that momentum.

“But they have the resources that if they find themselves with an opportunity, they can push the button to go again like they did in signing Sam Smith.”

Joe Clarke blasted 68 from 29 balls on his 27th birthday before Matthew Montgomery revealed more evidence of why Nottinghamshire rate him so highly with a high-quality 51 as the Outlaws launched their Vitality Blast season with a four-wicket victory over neighbours Derbyshire Falcons.South Africa-born Montgomery, who made 177 against Essex in the LV= Insurance County Championship last week, was making his county debut in the 20-over format and took to it impressively as the Outlaws eased home with 18 balls to spare despite Zak Chappell’s 2 for 29 against his former team and George Scrimshaw taking three late wickets in five balls.Half-centuries by Wayne Madsen and Luis Reece in a second-wicket stand worth 112 in under 10 overs had seemed to set up the Falcons for a bumper total as they sought to win at Trent Bridge for the first time in 10 years but the Outlaws fought back well to restrict them to 178 for 6.There were debut wickets for quicks Shaheen Shah Afridi and Conor McKerr – on loan from Surrey with three senior Outlaws bowlers out injured – while skipper Steven Mullaney took 2 for 37.The Falcons lost Pakistan batter Haider Ali to ex-Derbyshire quick McKerr’s first legitimate ball in an Outlaws shirt when a loose drive saw him caught at third but with Madsen smashing 36 from his first 18 balls it turned into a decent powerplay for the visitors, who were 56 for 1 after six having elected to bat first.Madsen looked in superb touch from the start, following three consecutive fours against the off-spin of Matt Carter – also celebrating his 27th birthday – with a couple off Samit Patel’s left-arm spin before bringing McKerr back down to earth with an effortless pick-up for the night’s first six.Reece caught the mood, despatching Patel and Mullaney over the ropes with the Outlaws unable to find a way to stem the runs as Madsen’s ninth four took him to a 26-ball half-century and the Falcons reached halfway at 102 for 1.The two took a six each off Mullaney but when Madsen slapped the last ball of the same over into the hands of extra cover it sparked an Outlaws fightback that saw Reece hole out to long-off – a wicket on Blast debut for Montgomery – and Luis du Plooy bowled behind his legs as 118 for 1 became 134 for 4.Tom Moores, in his first action for six weeks after breaking a finger, pulled off a sharp stumping to remove Anuj Dal and Afridi claimed his first Outlaws scalp as Aneurin Donald missed an attempted ramp, the second half of the innings going in favour of the home side, with 76 runs added for five wickets lost.Needing nine per over, the Outlaws raced to 78 for 1 from the powerplay, 26 off them in a single over of Mark Watt’s left-arm spin as Clarke smashed five fours and a six, completing a 23-ball half-century along the way, Alex Hales – wearing number three on his back after Afridi claimed his regular 10 – the solitary casualty as he skied Chappell to backward point. The home side’s progress was checked when Clarke was pinned leg before by a Chappell yorker that avenged a huge hit over long-off earlier in the over, but Montgomery joined another debutant – the New Zealand international Colin Munro – in adding 60 in 34 balls for the third wicket to bring the requirement down to 32 in 45 balls.Munro fell when he scooped Zaman Khan to long leg, Montgomery departing in similar fashion after hitting six fours and a six in his 29-ball innings as Scrimshaw gained some consolation for an otherwise expensive evening by taking three wickets in the same over as Mullaney and Moores were dismissed before Samit Patel scrambled the winning runs.

Chelsea now preparing £45m+ offer to sign £88k-p/w midfielder in January

Chelsea are now reportedly weighing up a move to sign a new midfielder as soon as January as they look to put the finishing touches to Enzo Maresca’s squad.

    Chelsea facing midfield dilemma

Chelsea’s midfield has been one of the best in the Premier League this season, with Moises Caicedo beginning to justify his massive price tag 12 months on from his arrival, while Enzo Fernández has been rejuvenated in his more advanced role under Maresca.

Roméo Lavia has also emerged as a key figure, and Maresca rotates the trio based on his needs in each game, explaining last month: “Roméo Lavia and Caicedo give us physicality, strength in the middle. When we play with Enzo, it has to be Enzo and one between Moi and Roméo. When Enzo moves we struggle in the middle with physicality. In this moment, Moi and Roméo give us this”.

But beyond this trio, there are concerns brewing. Both Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei have been strongly linked with exits in January, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also seen limited action since arriving over the summer, and has been tipped to seek out first team football elsewhere.

This could leave the Blues light in the middle of the park with fixtures coming thick and fast, which could in turn force them back into the transfer market to find more cover for Caicedo and Lavia. Now, they have been tipped to attempt an audacious swoop next month.

Chelsea want to sign France international

That comes according to reports in Spain, which claim that the Blues are ready to offer almost £50m to sign AC Milan and France midfielder Youssouf Fofana in the January transfer window.

Fofana only arrived at San Siro over the summer, with the Rossoneri taking advantage of his contract situation at Monaco to snap him up cheaply. Since his arrival, he has been a key player for Paulo Fonseca, starting 14 of his side’s 16 Serie A games.

West Ham target Youssouf Fofana in action for the French national team.

The Frenchman, dubbed a “technically brilliant” midfielder by Football Analyst Ben Mattinson on X, is still just 25 years old and now has been tipped to make a swift exit from Milan despite still having three and a half years left to run on his £88,000 a week deal.

As per the report, Chelsea “have set their sights on Fofana” and are “willing to shell out 60 million euros [£49.7m] to secure the Frenchman’s services”, a fee that would treble Milan’s initial investment.

It is added that though Fofana has just arrived, “the 60 million on the table could be enough for Milan to agree to negotiate” for his services, with the club also believed to be fielding interest for fellow midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who is also enjoying a fine season in red and black.

With midfield minutes a serious problem at Stamford Bridge, adding another big signing to the mix seems highly unlikely in January, especially one that has spent just months at his current side, with Maresca’s side more likely to target defensive upgrades and perhaps a new striker before turning their attentions to midfield.

But with as many as three fringe midfielders perhaps pushing for an exit in search of first team football, they could face something of a shortage in the middle of the park.

      WHAT HAPPENED?

Appointed in 2021, Skinner signed a one-year extension with the Red Devils last summer after guiding the women's team to a first major trophy by defeating Tottenham 4-0 in the FA Cup final, in the same season in which he led the side out in their first-ever Women's Champions League match. His contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, then, but he has now signed a new deal until 2027, with there the option for that to be extended until 2028.

      THE BIGGER PICTURE

There have been ups and downs for United in Skinner's time in charge. Last season was a good example of that, with the FA Cup triumph coming despite poor league form which saw the club miss out on Champions League football. This term, the Red Devils have been much better in the Women's Super League, and currently hold a seven-point cushion inside the European places. They are also still in the FA Cup, set to play Man City in the semi-finals next weekend.

    • WHAT SKINNER SAID

Speaking upon the announcement of his new contract, Skinner said: "It has been an absolute privilege to serve as head coach for this fantastic football club for the past four years and I am delighted to be extending my time in the role for at least a further two years. We are building a young, hungry team with the aim of challenging consistently for further trophies. There is still more hard work ahead, including this season, but the players and staff have already shown their determination to succeed and I am looking forward to us taking the next steps in our journey together."

Jason Wilcox, the club's technical director, added: "Marc’s record since taking charge speaks for itself, having delivered our first major women’s silverware and firmly established us among the leading teams in the WSL. After a major overhaul last summer, we have an exciting, developing squad ready to compete for further success, and we are convinced that Marc is the right coach to lead that process."

    • DID YOU KNOW?

In the 2022-23 season, Skinner oversaw United's first real charge for the WSL title, which saw them take eventual champions Chelsea to the final day. There is a slight chance his team could be in the mix for that trophy this season, with the Blues six points clear at the top but having dropped points twice in their last four games. United, however, do have a very tricky run-in, with Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal their final three opponents of the WSL campaign.

Gardner-Harris assault, Graham hat-trick help Australia clinch series 4-1

Ashleigh Gardner put in another all-round display while Grace Harris continued with her big-hitting heroics as Australia thumped India by 54 runs to seal a 4-1 series win at the Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday. After Gardner and Harris propelled Australia to 196 for 4 – the highest total in this series – India’s batting line-up crumbled for 142, as Heather Graham claimed a hat-trick in just her third T20I for Australia.Deepti Sharma hit a half-century to take India to a respectable total at a time when a more embarrassing defeat looked to be on the cards.Gardner, Harris onslaught
India started well with the ball, getting both openers out in a powerplay that also saw Renuka Singh bowl a maiden over to Australia’s stand-in captain, Tahlia McGrath. McGrath, however, came back strong and helped Australia kick on, before being stumped off Shafali Verma in the eighth over. Australia were 67 for 4 when the in-form Ellyse Perry fell in the 10th over, holing out to long-on off Devika Vaidya’s legspin. However, like in every match in this series, a big partnership derailed the hosts’ hopes. It was Beth Mooney and McGrath in the first two games, Perry and Harris in the third and then Perry and Gardner in the fourth. On Tuesday, it was Harris and Gardner, who added 129 runs off 62 deliveries for the fifth wicket. They started their onslaught in the 13th over, when Gardner hit Anjali Sarvani for four consecutive boundaries. Australia hammered 112 runs in the last eight overs, including the 19 that came off Sarvani’s.Gardner toyed with the fielders, finding the gaps with regularity, hitting 11 fours and a six. Harris, on the other hand, was less interested in where the fielders were and more in clearing the rope. She hit four sixes and six fours en route to her first T20I half-century.India were not helped by the poor fielding, gifting Australia runs from overthrows on three different occasions. And a rare dot ball in the death overs from Renuka also slipped past Richa Ghosh for four byes.Heather Graham picked up a hat-trick•BCCI

    Graham, Gardner rattle India
Chasing a mammoth 197, India hit their first roadblock in the first over, when Smriti Mandhana flicked an innocuous delivery from Darcie Brown straight to Harris at forward square leg.Struggling to accelerate, the hosts lost Shafali soon in the fifth over as Gardner teased her with a flighted delivery outside off that she hit straight to Annabel Sutherland in long-on.Harleen Deol, who didn’t get to bat in the last game, was promoted to No. 3 with India opting to rest Jemimah Rodrigues for the match. Deol upped the tempo with a few quick boundaries, including a square drive behind point off the first delivery she faced. However, a mix-up with Harmanpreet Kaur brought an end to her knock of 16-ball 24 and India lost wickets in regular intervals after that run-out. Harmanpreet was trapped lbw by Sutherland before Gardner returned to get rid of the big-hitting Ghosh to leave the hosts at 70 for 5 in the 10th over.Gardner finished with figures of 2 for 20, identical to the last game, to cap off another brilliant all-round display that saw her win both the Player-of-the-Match and Player-of-the-Tournament awards.Meanwhile, Graham, introduced to the attack in the 13th over, ran through the lower middle order with a fine hat-trick. Vaidya was her first victim, deceived by a slower ball and stumped as she went forward to play at it. Her second wicket was a length ball outside off that nipped back in to crash into the stumps to send Radha Yadav back to the hut. While Australia’s innings took off in their 13th over, India’s chase all but ended there.Graham was taken off the attack after that, and she came back to bowl the final over, castling Renuka to complete her treble. She was not done yet, as she had Deepti hole out at long-off with the final ball of the match. She returned figures of 2-0-8-4.In between the two overs that Graham took her hat-trick, Deepti once again put her finishing skills on show, scoring 53 off 34 balls, including eight fours and one six.
