Dewsbury-Hall is set to sign a deal until 2026, and he is set to sign his contract on Sunday. Leicester have rushed the deal through to comply with Profit and Sustainability regulations.
DID YOU KNOW?
Dewsbury-Hall has also been linked with Brighton but it appears that Chelsea have beaten the Seagulls to the punch. There was some suggestion a player could be involved in a swap deal but that does not appear to be the case. Instead, Fabrizio Romano notes that Blues youngster Michael Golding will be joining Leicester in a entirely separate deal.

Elsewhere, there's uncertainty around Premier League rivals Chelsea and their boss Mauricio Pochettino after a defeat to injury-hit Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final. The Argentine had a chance to relieve the pressure on his shoulders, with the Blues down in 11th in the table, but his stock may now have fallen further.
Man Utd eyeing Inzaghi swoop
Now, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport (via Football Italia), some of those clubs could pursue Inter boss Simone Inzaghi. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all "started to gather information" with a view to possibly making a move at the end of the season.
Inzaghi is happy at Inter right now, but his current contract is due to expire in just over 12 months' time. He's seeking a two-year extension to his current €5.5m per year deal, but his Premier League suitors, including Ratcliffe and Man Utd, could be willing to offer as much as €9m, which works out at around £150,000 a week. Barcelona are also admirers, but it's unclear whether they can match that kind of financial package.
"Fantastic" Inzaghi is turning Inter into a European force
Described as a "fantastic" coach by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Inzaghi started out as the manager of Lazio from 2016 to 2021. He won the Coppa Italia in 2018/19, having been runner-up two years earlier, and then joined Inter following the departure of Antonio Conte.
In his first season, he delivered the Coppa Italia to soften the blow of narrowly missing out to Milan in the title race, and while they dropped a place to third last term, they truly made headlines in other competitions. In addition to retaining the cup, Inzaghi led Inter to the final of the Champions League, where they narrowly lost to Manchester City.
Everything has come together beautifully this year, and the Nerazzurri are running away with the league. After winning 21 and losing just one of their first 25 games, they sit nine points clear of Juventus at the top of the table.
Across Europe's big five leagues, only Bayer Leverkusen (2.65) can better their record of 2.64 points per match, and nobody can match their average of 0.48 goals conceded per game, nor their goal difference of +51. That solidity hasn't come at the expense of attacking fireworks, though, with only Bayern (2.7) and Leverkusen (2.48) averaging more goals than their 2.44.

Kyle Jamieson might not have even played this match had Neil Wagner been available
The Report by Sidharth Monga20-Feb-20207:02
Star Sports Match Point: Manjrekar says India in ‘slightly weaker position’
Kyle Jamieson would likely have not played this match if Neil Wagner – away on paternity leave – had been available. On his first – rain-curtailed – day of Test cricket, though, the 6’8″ fast bowler might have left an indelible mark on the Test and the series with the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Hanuma Vihari. Asked to bat first, India were reduced to 122 for 5 by tea even though you could say New Zealand were not great with the new ball. No play was possible post the tea break thanks to rain. The start to the day was nice and bright with New Zealand inviting India to bat on a surface where the thick grass wore a brown look. Trent Boult and Tim Southee were not always on the mark with the new ball, but the introduction of Jamieson brought menace to the proceedings. He didn’t try to be the man he was substituting. Wagner bowls hard lengths from different angles as the point-of-difference bowler in New Zealand conditions, but Jamieson looked to bowl more on a length and even invite drives. The awkward bounce from his height proved to be the point of difference as it sent batsmen back.Prithvi Shaw didn’t need any sending back. He got off to an aggressive start, but when Southee got it right, Shaw was squared up by a plum half-volley because his feet didn’t go towards the ball. Mayank Agarwal and Pujara then put in close to an hour of classic Test-match batting, respecting the conditions and playing only at balls close to them. With the two main bowlers off after 10 overs, India looked in good shape at 31 for 1. Except that Jamieson was yet to announce himself.Bowling with the wind, Jamieson immediately found disconcerting bounce from the slow surface. The fourth ball he bowled was a beauty: angling in, swinging away late, leaving Pujara squared up. The signs were there that this Wagner substitute had more conventional new-ball skills. In his next over, he had Pujara following a shortish ball, which is unusual for the India No. 3. In the third, he bowled the dream ball: late swing against the angle, extra bounce, and the edge taken for a rare Pujara caught-behind dismissal. These dismissals are not rare with Kohli, but you have to get him early or he hurts you really badly. Jamieson’s plan was obvious: push Kohli back and then throw in the sucker punch. The welcome from Jamieson to Kohli was in fact so high it was called a wide. In his next over, he tried the one-two of short ball followed by the full one twice. On the first occasion, he got too straight and got picked away for a couple. On the next occasion, he bowled a wide length ball, which some might argue is the perfect channel for Kohli first up. Kohli followed it, and arguably his weight was slightly back, mindful of that bounce. And he nicked it to first slip, where Ross Taylor nearly dropped him, holding on with his fingertips.Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane now looked to bat with visibly more urgency. Perhaps he felt comfortable with his acclimatisation because Agarwal now began to play away from his body. Two such shots flew between the three slips and gully. Rahane, though, looked comfortable, walking at the bowlers and driving and nudging if the length was short. For Agarwal, the lunch break came at the right time because he seemed to be racing ahead of himself.Post lunch, with the ball doing less, New Zealand knew they were in for some hard work. What worked for them was the slowness of a moist surface, which meant they could control the flow of runs. After a short spell from Southee, Boult was asked to bowl into the wind, and he produced a wicket immediately. Agarwal, well set now, didn’t account for the sponginess and slowness of the surface and went into a swivel-pull too soon, top-edging to long leg.Just after the drinks break, Jamieson struck another blow with a repeat of the Pujara delivery, but not before having sent Hanuma Vihari deep into his crease with his extra bounce. By now, Rahane had shelved the aggressive game and began to bat solidly. The bowlers tried to tempt him often, but he kept playing the ball late and with soft hands. Even he was nearly undone by a mean Jamieson bouncer, taking his eyes off and throwing his bat up in self-defence, but he was lucky the ball lobbed to safety. From a quickish start of 17 off 28, Rahane went to tea at 38 off 122. Rishabh Pant and Rahane had added 21 for the sixth wicket, but New Zealand would be pleased with the lid imposed on the scoring rate.
Chelsea are thought to be in the race to sign a new £50m+ striker, with Todd Boehly and co already registering an interest in his services.
Chelsea striker rumours
The Blues were quiet during the January transfer window, failing to make a marquee signing, with the focus at Stamford Bridge being on departures. It comes after Mauricio Pochettino admitted last month that the club would look into their attacking options after an injury to Christopher Nkunku.
"It's true that now in the next few days, we are going to see the situation. That's why I told you that I am a little worried”, said Pochettino.
"All of these situations make our job a little more difficult. I told you before that it is an exciting project but situations like this make it more difficult to change the situation and grow at a different pace."
Four forwards were offered to Chelsea as short-term solutions, including AZ Alkmaar’s Vangelis Pavlidis, Zenit St Petersburg’s Mateo Cassierra, Cercle Brugge’s Kevin Denkey and Atletico Mineiro’s Paulinho, whereas former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was also linked.
However, attention will now be on the summer window, and it has been claimed that Napoli star Victor Osimhen has already chosen to join Chelsea. The Blues will know that a deal isn’t done until all the paperwork is signed, though, and it looks as if they have their eye on another striker plying his trade in Europe.
Chelsea make Jonathan David contact
According to Football Transfers in the last 48 hours, Lille forward Jonathan David has been gaining more interest in recent months. They report that Brentford are looking at the Canada international to replace Ivan Toney.
jonathan-david-premier-league-transfers
The Ligue 1 side could demand up to €60m (£51m) for David’s services, and it is added that Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Manchester United, have also registered their interest over a potential deal.
David, labelled an “absolutely massive” player for Lille by Zach Lowy, moved to France from KAA Gent back in 2020 and has gone from strength to strength for his current employers. The 24-year-old can play as a centre-forward or second striker and has seen his Transfermarkt valuation double since joining Lille.

This isn’t the first time he’s been linked with a move to Chelsea, with David saying last year after rumours of a move to Stamford Bridge under Graham Potter:
“It's flattering when you are praised but personally I don't know him. The Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world, let's see what the future holds.
“I want to score as many goals as possible, not necessarily 20. If I can go much higher, I'll do that. But I take it game by game.”
As we know, Chelsea currently have Nicolas Jackson as their only senior striker option until the end of the season, so another marquee attacker appears to correctly be the priority in the summer, and by the looks of things, David is a player to keep an eye on ahead of the summer.
Lynn did not pull any punches following his side’s latest performance when speaking immediately after the extraordinary finish
Alex Malcolm19-Jan-2020Brisbane Heat captain Chris Lynn has lambasted his side’s record BBL collapse against the Melbourne Renegades as “piss-poor” and “embarrassing”.The Heat were 0 for 84 after 5.5 overs chasing a target of 165 at the Gabba only to lose a record 10 for 36 to fall 44 runs short and put their finals hopes in severe jeopardy. This followed an embarrassing 10-wicket loss to the Adelaide Strikers last Thursday when they were bowled out for 100. They were also bowled out for just 109 earlier in the tournament against the Perth Scorchers attempting to chase just 150.Dan Christian wins an lbw against Ben Cutting•Getty ImagesLynn did not pull any punches following his side’s latest performance.”I’ve seemed to be in this position a couple of times this year,” he told Channel Seven. “I can’t really sugar-coat it, it was a piss-poor effort. Another embarrassing effort. We got off to a flyer. These guys that are playing they’re not first or second-year players, they’ve got four or five years under their belt.”We’re doing all the right things at training but I don’t know what is going on out in the middle because we just seem to panic. It’s not just a wicket or two, it’s a train wreck.”Lynn was the first man to fall holing out to deep long-on in the last ball of the powerplay which then triggered the stunning collapse. The Heat lost three wickets in four balls including AB de Villiers and Matt Renshaw, who both fell to Player of the Match Cameron Boyce in the seventh over.Lynn and coach Darren Lehmann called a strategic timeout at the end of the seventh over to try and steady the ship but the message to rebuild consolidate was not heeded.”Something has got to change,” Lynn said. “Our preparation has been awesome, you can’t fault that but it’s just out in the middle. I don’t know what goes through our guys’ heads. We had our strategic timeout, we had our plans in place not to play dumb cricket, knock it around, hit the guys in the deep, no run-outs, um … yeah, I’m pretty speechless.”Lynn was probed further by former Heat captain Brendon McCullum, now a Channel Seven commentator, and fellow commentator Ricky Ponting, as to why the Heat’s batsmen are recidivists but he could not find an answer.”I don’t know,” Lynn said. “I’m standing here for the second time after an embarrassment. It’s the biggest record loss after a powerplay of [84]. We were cruising and doing better than walking it in, I don’t really know what to say, to be honest.”Every player has got to look in and not out. We’re playing as a group of individuals and unless we change that we’re going to end up missing the finals again which is not good enough in the position we’re in and the players we’ve got in the line-up.”The Heat could have moved to fourth on the table with a victory, ahead of both the Sydney Thunder and the Perth Scorchers, but instead they remain sixth with just three games remaining and their net run-rate took a battering as a result of the stunning collapse.
Agent Ali Barat has pulled back the curtain on Dean Huijsen's summer transfer to Real Madrid, revealing 'more than seven' clubs were in the running. Barat described the deal as 'very easy' thanks to a £50 million release clause and the Spanish defender's clear desire to fulfil his lifelong 'dream' of playing for Los Blancos.
Barat reveals the nature of Huijsen
Barat has revealed that Madrid beat "more than seven" other top clubs to the signing of defender Huijsen, describing the process as "very easy" due to the player's lifelong "dream" of moving to the Santiago Bernabeu. Speaking to , Barat detailed the straightforward nature of the blockbuster transfer.

Despite significant interest in the 20-year-old from across Europe, Barat explained that a release clause in the player's contract simplified the negotiations. The main task was to present the various projects to the defender and his family before a final decision was made.
"With Dean, it was very easy," Barat said. "I think there were more than seven clubs that wanted him. There was a £50 million clause too. So there were no real negotiations to do with the club, which made the job much easier. It was just a matter of visiting all the clubs, listening to all the projects."
'His dream was to play for Real Madrid'
Once the options were presented, the agent confirmed that the player's personal ambition made the final choice a simple one. Barat noted that Huijsen's connection to Spain made the move particularly meaningful.
"We sat down with Dean and his family to make his choice," he continued. "For him, it was clear: his dream was to play for Real Madrid. He's a Spanish international. So I think for him, it was even more important. Plus, he was a Real Madrid fan when he was younger."
Getty Images SportWhat next for Huijsen after controversial suspension?
Huijsen has started his career in Madrid brightly, but will be forced to watch from the sidelines this weekend. The centre-back is set to miss Saturday's La Liga match against Espanyol after the Spanish Football Federation's appeals committee controversially upheld a one-match ban for a red card he received in the 2-1 win over Real Sociedad.
The suspension was confirmed despite Spain's refereeing committee (CTA) admitting in a video review that a yellow card would have been the "most appropriate punishment." The decision prompted a frustrated reaction from the player, who posted on Instagram: "They admit the mistake but I'm still punished. A good image for Spanish football."
Lamine Yamal has revealed how he convinced his parents to back his dream of football stardom at Barcelona instead of studying for a degree.

Yamal was famously studying for his school exams after he had already established himself as a first-team regular at Barcelona and a star for Spain, even finding out his results during La Roja's journey to Euro 2024 success. The 18-year-old had initially planned on taking on a university course alongside his playing career, but opted to focus on his performances.
AdvertisementadidasWHAT YAMAL SAID
Speaking on Jose Ramon de la Morena’s podcast, the 18-year-old confessed: "One day I called my mom and said: 'Mom, I'm going to go to school, but I'm not going to do anything. I'm going to get ready for training this afternoon.' And she replied: 'What have you taken?' I said: 'If I focus, I'll be a soccer player.' She yelled at me every day, but she finally understood. I don't recommend this to anyone, but it was my dream, and I achieved it.
"I would have liked to study a degree, but I'm not cut out for it. I told my parents: 'If you depend on me for work, we're screwed. But if I become a footballer, don't worry, because I'm going to be a footballer.'"
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Barca wonderkid also opened up about his difficult upbringing and life-changing journey to football stardom, revealing the sacrifices he made as a child and the important role his mother played in keeping him grounded.
"I came from an apartment where the kitchen and bedroom were in the same place," he said. "I see my mother happy, I see that my brother can have the childhood I would have wanted, and that's what makes me happiest.
"For me, [my mother is] my queen; she's what I love most."
His new fame has made some things in life difficult, though, as he added: "It’s changed my life in every way. Before, I could do whatever I wanted: I could go out for drinks with my friends, but now I can’t. I remember the preseason this summer in Korea, Japan, China – it was impossible to go anywhere… but I’m happy."

With the possibility of becoming one of the youngest-ever Ballon d’Or winners, Yamal’s focus remains on football, but his story is also about the broader meaning of success and ensuring a better life for his loved ones. Barcelona, meanwhile, must manage both his footballing development and the immense external pressures that come with being a teenage global superstar, and the continuing of-field noise around him. Barca is set to face Valencia on Sept 14.

West Brom are "set" to complete the signing of a "special" player before the end of deadline day, according to a new claim from reliable journalist John Percy.
West Brom transfer news
The Baggies have been linked with a host of different players throughout the January transfer window, but they know that time is now very much running out to bring in new faces. Brahima Diarra has emerged as a late transfer target for West Brom, with the Huddersfield Town midfielder seen as a potentially ideal partner for Alex Mowatt in the middle of the park. Talks are believed to be taking place over a switch to the Hawthorns coming to fruition.
Talented young Birmingham City ace Jordan James has also been backed to join Carlos Corberan's side this month, with the Englishman a midfielder with bags of end product who could have a big future in the game.
Birmingham midfielder Jordan James.
Away from those two targets, however, another name could be on his way to Hawthorns before the transfer cutoff on Thursday night, following an exciting update.
Baggies "set to sign" exciting talent
Writing on X on Thursday morning, Percy claimed that West Brom are closing in on the loan signing of Celtic attacker Mikey Johnston, having been linked with a move for him in recent days.
Celtic forward Mikey Johnston.
"Wba are set to sign Celtic winger Mikey Johnston today. Republic of Ireland international to undergo medical ahead of a loan move for remainder of the season."
This is fantastic news for West Brom, with Johnston someone with the attacking quality to help add a new dimension to Corberan's attack between now and the end of the season. The 24-year-old is a six-time capped Republic of Ireland international, having switched allegiances from Scotland after youth team age, and he has scored twice for his country for good measure.
Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart has played with some great players down the years, whether it be with England or Manchester City, and he has spoken highly of Johnston in the past, saying:
"Ireland are getting someone who is potentially very special. He has a lot of ability and the kind of qualities that can lift people off their seats. I noticed that the moment I met him, but he’s been very unlucky with injuries. You have to really understand football to understand what he’s been through because they’re not your average injuries.
"People understand when you pull your hamstring and you're out for eight weeks but you come back and you're fine. Or if you break a leg. But Mikey had these little injuries that kept holding him back and stopped any sort of momentum and flow in his career. But he's very professional and is doing his best to get the best out of himself. A fully fit Mikey Johnston can impact games and he’ll get people out of their seats."

Players will wear black armbands in all three upcoming Sheffield Shield games while Hughes will also be remembered during the second Test
AAP22-Nov-2024Cricket Australia will fly flags at half-mast and black armbands will return to players’ uniforms as the sport prepares to mark the 10-year anniversary of Phillip Hughes’ death.Saturday’s Sheffield Shield round will begin two weeks of commemorations for Hughes, whose life was tragically cut short days before his 26th birthday in 2014.Officials have adopted a uniform approach across the board, with Hughes’ former team South Australia to face Western Australia in Adelaide from Saturday.Hughes’ childhood team New South Wales will also host Tasmania at the SCG from Sunday, while Queensland and Victoria play at the Gabba.Players will wear black armbands in all three games, while a moment’s silence will also be observed before play on day four of all matches. For the Sydney and Brisbane matches, Wednesday’s final day of play will coincide with the 10-year anniversary of Hughes’ death on November 27, 2014.Officials have opted to use the Adelaide Test between Australia and India as the best time to celebrate Hughes with the national team, while sharing their plans with his family. His passing will be marked when that match begins on December 6, almost 10 years to the day since Test cricket resumed in Australia after Hughes’ death. CA has filmed a documentary in conjunction with Hughes’ family to mark the occasion, which will be broadcast before play in that Test. Many column inches have also already been dedicated to the opener, who played 26 Tests for Australia and was earmarked as a long-term fixture in the side.”We understand this will be a time of reflection for the many people who knew and admired Phillip Hughes,” Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said. “We wanted to ensure that the Hughes family, particularly, were comfortable with any commemorations and that we celebrate Phillip’s life and incredible achievements appropriately.”Hughes’ death two days after he was struck in the neck by a ball at the SCG in 2014 remains one of the most difficult periods in cricket history. The Macksville junior was one of the most popular members of the national team, and remains close to the heart of several Australian players.Off the field, his legacy remains strong, with Hughes’ family still involved in his angus cattle farm Four 0 Eight on the NSW north coast.Cricket initially found itself at a loss of how to play on, with Hughes having been set to bat his way back into the Australian team when not out on 63 at the SCG.He was posthumously named as Australia’s 13th man for the rejigged first Test in Adelaide, where 63 seconds of applause were observed before play.
